DESCRIPTION

The 1.9 paved Garrison Trail is the first multi-use trail on an Interstate Highway bridge in Massachusetts. It connects Route 110 in Salisbury and Amesbury with the Route 113 Park and Ride in Newburyport.

It offers scenic Merrimack River overlooks with interpretive signs featuring local history and nature. The trail ramp at Ferry Road provides easy access to Maudslay State Park and its miles of scenic walking paths.  If you plan to get to the trail by car, the best place to park is at the north end of Old Merrill St. in Amesbury.
