Join the CTC as we work on clearing the trail from High Street to Chestnut Street.  Meet at March's Hill in Newburyport and please bring work gloves, rakes, clippers and bow saws (if available). Event will be held rain or shine.  Questions? Call John Norris 978-465-8531

Saturday, October 14, 10:00AM - Newburyport-Salisbury Rail Trail Walk

The CTC, Salisbury Coastal Trails and the Institution for Savings in Newburyport will jointly sponsor a walk on the proposed rail trails in Newburyport and Salisbury. The walk will start at Battis Grove on Washington Street in Newburyport at 10 a.m. and will continue to the rail bridge overlook at the bank of the Merrimack River and then cross to the Salisbury side to walk the Old Eastern Marsh Trail.  The walk will be led by Tom Horth and Jerry Klima who will talk on the history of the Old Eastern Railroad and the varied ecology and natural history of the area.  The walk is about 4 miles of easy walking round trip, and will take about 3 hours, including lunch.  For those who don't want to walk back to Newburyport, rides will be available from Mudnock Road in Salisbury.

The Institution for Savings, soon to be opening new branch in Salisbury Square, will provide lunches for the participants at the Town Creek viewpoint.  If you would like to reserve a lunch, please call Mary Anne Clancy at the bank at 978-462-3106, extension 1224.  If you don't get her directly, please leave a message with your name, phone number and the number of lunches you need.
