The Lake Gardner Improvement Association, funded with a grant from the Provident Community Foundation, along with considerable help from Mayor Hildt, Town Engineer Rob Desmarais and DPW Director Brian Gilbert, will be constructing a boardwalk to connect the beach path at Lake Gardner with the public trails on Powow “Po” Hill. The boardwalk is intended to bridge an area which is almost always muddy and difficult to cross. The purpose of the project is to improve public access and thereby further encourage passive recreation on the extensive trail network along the Po Hill greenbelt. Walkers will now be able to walk comfortably from the Riverwalk, through Town and up to the Camp Kent Environmental Center on the New Hampshire border.
Volunteers are needed on the construction date, which is June 11. We will meet at 7:30 at the bath house, set up assembly stations and by the end of the day, we hope to have all construction completed on about 100 feet of boardwalk.
