The annual spring Newburyport Clean Sweep will take place on April 12th. Volunteers will meet at Cashman Park for a complimentary continental breakfast at 9 a.m. near the playground. From there volunteers will get site assignments and then fan out throughout the community to focus on the city’s parks, shoreline, and downtown areas. picking up trash, polishing bench plaques, spreading mulch and painting playground equipment and benches.
Volunteers of all ages and abilities are needed and encouraged to pitch in. Litter-grabbers will be loaned out on a first-come basis by the Rotary Club of Newburyport. Organizers will also provide trash bags, latex gloves, rakes and other tools, and recommend volunteers wear heavy shoes or boots and work gloves.
